Hypergrid – Italian transmission network with HVDC VSC

A new model is available in the open-source Electrisim application: Hypergrid – Italian transmission network with HVDC VSC.

This is the result of Antonino Patti’s thesis from Università degli Studi di Palermo, on the development of a simplified 10-bus model of the Italian transmission network and the integration of HVDC technology, with the aim of implementing the project envisaged in the Terna 2023 Development Plan (Italian TSO), known as Hypergrid.

The first step was the validation of the 10-bus model without interconnections by comparing the results with those from another specialized software, Neplan. Once the model was validated, the HVDC network foreseen by the Hypergrid project was implemented using the DC objects available in the pandapower library.

How to use this model

In the Electrisim app, create a new diagram and open the Transmission tab in the template dialog. Select the template 10-bus Italian grid to start from this model.
