Why we're building Electrisim and making power system analysis accessible to engineers worldwide.
Our mission: We want to make power system analysis an accessible tool for power system and electrical engineers—without expensive software licenses or complex setup.
Professional power system analysis software—such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, and MATLAB-based tools—has long been the domain of large utilities and well-funded research institutions. These tools are powerful, but they come with high costs, steep learning curves, and often require dedicated IT infrastructure.
We started Electrisim because we believe that every power system and electrical engineer should have access to professional-grade modeling, simulation, and analysis tools. Whether you're a student, a consultant, a renewable energy developer, or an engineer at a smaller utility, you deserve tools that help you design, analyze, and optimize electrical networks—without prohibitive barriers.
Electrisim is developed by power system engineers with over 20 years of experience in the field. Our team has deep expertise in load flow, short-circuit, harmonic, and transient analysis, and has used commercial tools extensively throughout our careers. That experience drives our commitment to building an open-source, web-based platform that delivers reliable results and is continuously validated against established software.
We founded Electrisim in 2009 and have been steadily developing the platform ever since. Our work is supported by the open-source community, Pandapower and OpenDSS, and by users who subscribe to our cloud service—helping us fund ongoing development and new features.
Electrisim is a free, open-source, web-based tool for power system analysis. You can run it in your browser, deploy it locally for complete data privacy, or use our cloud service for instant access. We combine the strengths of Pandapower (transmission and balanced analysis) and OpenDSS (distribution and unbalanced analysis) in a single, intuitive interface—so you can model, simulate, and analyze electrical networks without writing scripts or installing complex software.
We're continuously improving Electrisim based on user feedback. From load flow and short-circuit analysis to optimal power flow, contingency analysis, time-series simulation, and economic analysis—we're building the tool we wish we had when we started in this field. See our roadmap for planned features.
